The Pumpkin Patch

Those are actual pumpkin vines on the ground. That is Daddy actually freezing because he doesn't have such a cool toque as Rhodri, who can now say "toque", or the good sense to wear a coat. But who needs warmth when he can have fashion! Those are Fluevogs people!
Now, some of you might be thinking that we feed our wee lad junk food. Far from it. The thing that looks like a nacho cheese dusted Dorito is actually a dehydrated wedge of organic pumpkin. And the cookie? Well, that's a figment of your imagination.
We had a stupendous time at the pumpkin patch. There was a hay bale maze just tall enough that a child could feel good and hidden but a mamma could still see him. There was a train pulled by a tractor that went all over and was Rhodri's very favourite thing, and there was a pumpkin slingshot and about eighteen different varieties of pumpkin including ghostly white which was strange, beautiful and tasted a bit like butternut squash. We've still got a freezer full of mashed stuff we are slowly eating our way through in pies and loaves. How we suffer.

"By-by" waves our Rhodri on his second go 'round the farm. To think, I thought he'd be upset if one of us didn't go with him. He cried and cried when it was finally time to leave his Deere friend John.
