Hi Everyone!
We are well and hope you are too. We have just had a visit from Grampa Dave and are looking forward to seeing Katy and Dorita and Grandma W. soon too.
It is very pleasant here. Not only do we get to share big breakfast with Grandma Gail most Sunday mornings and see auntie Jennifer when she comes home for the holidays (not nearly enough), we are not too far from the really big city. So, we get lots of visits from family there. Also, we get a smattering of visits from Saskfriends attending conferences as well. We really are in a great location. But we do miss Amy and Louis. We hope the blog updates are keeping them connected.
In the news, there have been lots of goings on. One month ago, today, Clayton and I were called to the Bar. It was a very exciting day for us. There was a nice intimate ceremony well-attended by local lawyers and friends and family. The ceremony bore all of the pomp, circumstance and good graces that a call to the noble legal profession should was also highlighted with humour.
Alas, Clayton and I were so busy signing the roles and not tripping on our robes that we forgot the camera at home. Suffice it to say, it was a beautiful, warm fall day, people brought us gorgous flowers, I looked my absolutely most stunning and Clayton his very most handsome :) Oh but we did! It must have been our grins of pride. Thank-you so much to everyone who attended. We loved having you there. We wish we had pictures to share but hope I've managed to paint an adequate picture for you.
Now, on to the events we DO have pictures of.
Auntie Jen's August visit:
Spending some quality time with a good auntie and a good book.
Rhodri and Jen communing with nature.
Country Fair here we come! On Labour Day weekend aunties Katy and Dorita helped us paint our living and dining room. That was on Saturday. On Sunday, we made the treck to a small town fair just a short distance awy. It was a real country-style fair with animals, food, rides, a rodeo, you name it and all rather fresher than city fairs. But if you want to see baked goods, might we recommend attending at the beginning of the fair, not on closing day when they have become microcosms unto themselves. We had a great time! Even the drive home that night was awesome. Rhodri was pooped. The rest of us enjoyed the evening drive through the countryside.
Highlights of the fair: All the animals! The food! The animals! The tractors! Discovering that a freshly sliced onion takes the sting out of wasp bites, and fast. Thank-you to the quick thinking lady at the bratwurst barbecue.
Lowlights: Rhodri receiving his first wasp sting. Daddy and Rhodri having HOT sauce (ask us for the story some time).
Katy and Rhodri in one of the barns. Family resemblance anyone? The red eyes, the love of mini doughnuts and clothing adorned with bears...
Check the next post for the continuation of our trip to the fair and more.
