Us Update
There is so much to catch up on just now, so much that has happened in the year or so since we did proper updates on tuvluv. Here are a few highlights:
Rhodri is 23 months old now. He will turn two on October first. Clayton and I are very excited about this. However, we have come to the realization that all the cliches are true. Rhodri is growing faster than we can believe. We have always tried to enjoy real quality time as a family and not just to pay lip service to this idea. Yet, there can never be enough time with one's children. I still don't understand how people can bore of any stage of their child's development, at least not in their young child. Each stage passes so quickly and doesn't come back again. It's like watching the only showing of a film, only you actually get to participate in the action. Watch for a blog update following Rhodri's birthday.
Clayton and I have completed our articles, hence the vast quantity of recent blog updates. There will be more in the near future too as I have only made it through our pictures up until May, and there are many more. We keep snapping photos even if we don't have the time to do anything more than admire them on the tiny screen on the camera.
Articling was a gruelling experience for us both. As was the bar course which, blessedly, we completed in November 2006. The hardest part was having both of us working full time. There was never a moment to take a breath. There was always soemthing urgent demanding our attention and never time to properly complete things in our personal lives. Now, we are done. Lawyers, fully fledged. Our official call to the Bar will be September 18 but we already have to pay practice insurance, so lawyers we are.
Clayton had a better time articling than myself. He is staying on at his firm to do all manner of things particularly civil litigation - no personal injury work please. I have gleefully departed my firm and am spending some time getting our home in order.
There's a new TUV in town! That's right, we are expecting our second baby! Congratulations all 'round. I am due mid to late January and am feeling great, now. Pregnancy seems to suit me. I have not been ill even a little. Now that I'm not working, eating better and getting enough sleep, life is grand. It is great to have someone in the family who can do more of the domestic stuff - things we had been leaving for the weekend. Now the weekends are just for fun. I plan to be off work until one year after the baby is born but may pick up some little things before TUV arrives. Then we shall see what I can offer the law and vice versa.
Clayton has received his first government appointment. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada. He was whisked off to Ottawa for lunch today for the annual public meeting. He returns tonight. Work grows ever more interesting for us.
That's all the big news for now. We hope it tides you over until the next installment.
Love to you all,
Aurora

You'll have to call the new one T2.
Grosspa sez,
What a relief that the blog is up and running again! I am just delighted!! I had been checking in regularly just to bitch and complain, and suddenly here's this big beefy update. I'm delighted with it. Now I wanna see pix with Gramma Gail and Aunty Jen too. Congratulations on an update well done!!!
Congratulations you two! (I mean you three!) This is wonderful news.
You are so, so right about how time flies, and how you have to appreciate it all. It amazes me that my own baby-memories are as fresh as those photos of Rhodri, even though my babies are mostly all grown up. Rhiannon graduated high school in June and turned 18 last week. Brett is in year 2 at U of S, and Jeff is in grade 10.
On an entirely unrelated topic: remember that keyboard Clayton recommended to me? This post is coming to you from the very same. It has been the best ergonomic decision I've made and has totally saved my health and my career--so thank-you! I told Michael at ErgoCanada it was recommended to me by a friend: a law-student who was also a competitive skeet-shooter. There was a short pause, then he said, "...by a lawyer who's good with a gun?" I have a sneaky suspicion he shaved a bit off the price after hearing that ;-)
Much love and hugs from Saskatoon!
Karen
Aurora, Clayton, and Rhodri,
How exciting to hear that there will soon (if not already) be a new addition to the family!
Congratulations. I am so happy for you all.
Can't wait to see the updates of the newest one.
