Written update

Tonight is Hallowe'en. The children lay nestled all snug in their beds with gobs of sugar bolting through their veins. Well, the larger one's veins anyhow. The littlest one only gets what I get, so maybe he has gobs of sugar too. I don't know.

We started out the evening with a potluck at our best neighbour's house. They have three kids and we all have a great time together whenever we get the chance. Then we went out trick or treating. Rhodri was dressed as a lion and Digby a little devil (pictures to follow). Rhodri seemed to really get a kick out of the trick or treating tonight. He's been excited about it all week. Although, after an hour of dragging  a soggy tail through the rain-glistening streets of Kelowna, he was pretty pooped. Poor guy has had an earache for the last few days. Now he's on antibiotics for it and we've got some good topical anasthetic. Digby napped in the carrier on my chest for most of it and had a great time crawling around the debris in the living room upon our return. As his auntie Katy says - the li'l scamp.

This is how the guys are doing these days:

Rhodri weighs pretty much 40 lbs. He speaks fluently and says things like "Digby is a little debil." "Please, may I have some candy." and "I like to have hot schlockit [chocolate]." He is drawing amazing pictures of people and animals all of a sudden. We have faces and long legs and short legs and arms and hair and it's wonderful to see these creatures materialize suddenly from the neurons in his head. So cool!!!! I'll try to post some up here soon. His imagination is going great guns too. As a result he has a fabulous time playing all sorts of make-believe games but is also more afraid of the dark, being alone, etc. I guess it goes with the territory.

Digby weighs about 21 lbs. He makes all sorts of sounds representing glee, disapproval, anger, joy, amusement - you name it. He is so bright and lovely and mostly very contented. He is perfecting his pincer grasp. Just over the last 24 hours I have seen him go from scooping a handful of cheerios or raisins and trying to stuff the whole thing in his mouth by palming it in to delicately picking up a single cheerio. Awesome! He eats all sorts of foods and yes, he is still nursing - hopefully, he will be for a long time to come. He walks with assistance, can cross an entire room pushing a plastic table or walking toy along in front. He can also stand unaided (in space balancing) for longer and longer times.

Both of our little guys are developing so beautifully. They are lovely and sweet and huggable and they get lots of hugs and kisses each day from everyone who is around them. There is so much love in our family.

Clayton's work is going pretty well, not quite so busy as it has been which is a very good thing. There aren't fewer clients, he's just managing it better. Opening one's own business comes with a rather steep learning curve. I am dreading going back to work in 3 months but that's a worry for another day - like in 3 months! Hopefully by then I'll have a better grip on it. We're looking for a nanny for both of our sweeties. Anyone know someone wonderful who wants to work 3 days a week or so, pass on the info - PLEASE!

Well, it is way past the bedtime for a mommy who has only had 7 mini chocolate bars and a glass of very peaty scotch in the last 3 hours. Morning comes early. Sigh. But I am REALLY looking forward to the weekend.

Love to you ALL,

A, C, R & D
